Daniel Kirsch

Daniel is one of those rare creatives who could make other designers feel inadequate—if he wasn't such a 'good' guy. His raw creativity, from fine art through to high graphic design, is only enhanced by a meticulous eye for detail.

Daniel has a simple design philosophy. He believes in something he calls ‘Good Design’. Pressed for detail, he will tell you this simply means using design to “create a happier world with greater balance in life”. Which is what makes his involvement with Brandfibre all the more congruent at the values level.

Operating from his studio on the rugged Coromandel Peninsula, Daniel draws inspiration from both his native Germany and his adopted New Zealand.

A classical European training (a Design MA from Hildesheim University) has given him the creative curiosity and design expression to bring these diverse inspirations together in powerful and highly original work.

With his appreciative European background, indigenous New Zealand has inspired him with its diverse cultural traditions and rich design motifs. He’s embraced the opportunity to study Te Reo Maori and explore the richness of Maori language, stories and culture.

When he’s not working, Daniel spends much of his free time tramping, cycling, kayaking and backpacking around the Coromandel Peninsula. So its perhaps unsurprising to learn that he’s committed to preserving our natural heritage.

Daniel has been producing original work to the very highest standard for more than two decades. He attributed his success to being conscious about every aspect of his work, while holding true to his design principles.
